Why Nature in Hospitality

Why do we travel? Why do we want to discover new places? What makes journeys ones that we remember and want to come back to?

For me the greatest journeys, the ones that have special meaning, have been ones connected to nature. Journeys to connect and discover a new place and surroundings where Mother Nature takes center stage. This is a main reason I was drawn into the profession of Landscape Architecture.

In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.”- John Muir

Immersed in nature, time seems to slow down. The digital world fades away. Hearing the aspen leaves quaking in the wind. Sunlight dancing on the ground as it hits the forest floor. A cool breeze that awakens the senses with the smell of fresh snow. Your journey winds through the refuge of the forest to open to a clearing in the distance where you arrive to take in the dramatic mountain peaks.

This is a journey I remember, in vivid detail.

Hospitality, and in particular Outdoor Hospitality, is a industry primed to connect people with nature through immersive experiences and stories. Nature in Hospitality is driven by a desire to share how we all can all make our natural places better and tell stories of people and places that are making an positive impact on the planet and local communities.

My hope is that hospitality can create a spark toward restoring our natural places and educating guests through immersive experiences to make the places we impact more connected to a nature. A nature that represents the native ecosystem of the area.

Every other Monday, I will share insights related to regenerative hospitality, climate positive site design, and experiential design within native ecosystems. I will also share the people and places that I find inspiring and offer insights into how this can impact you and your guests.

I am excited to start this journey with you, and I hope you will join me. Share your ideas, what inspires you, and your special places in nature that call to you. Together we can have a shared dialogue about how we can have a positive impact for future generations.

Small changes can have a big impact.

Lets be the spark that helps ignites positive impact for more wild places.
